»ICAS CITY«
concerts, performances, dj

Ganz im Sinne des I.C.A.S.-Kommuniqués. Als Partner im I.C.A.S.

ICAS-City: Credit 00 on decks

Bon Voyage (free entry)
Bar / Clubbing / Sit-In

After moving to Dresden in 2000 to study fine arts, his passion for synthesizers and drum machines got nurtured through visits of Dresden’s club-canalisation. He quickly made himself a name as a DJ, who is just doing his own thing and got popular for that reason. As a part of the Idealfun-crew he started hosting parties always in the twilight zone between legal and illegal. This led to “Robo Dance”, Dresden’s only and (also for some other reasons) best Electro club night featuring guests like DMX Krew, Luke Eargoogle or Imatran Voima. For his own music he’s inspired by cannibal movies, number theory and birds. Still, his music is not easy to pigeonhole. After all, he loves Synth Wave, Electro, Afro, Kraut, Kosmische, Disco, Italo, Miami Bass and other Proto stuff – a lot of machine music.

Paul Wiersbinski – »One Man Unit«

Louisenstrasse free / in public
public Performance

ONE MAN UNIT is a hybrid of man and electronic sculpture fully armed with consumer video and mobile projections in order to add another layer of images to our fictitious world by artists Paul Wiersbinski and Wieland Schönfelder. After dark the audience joins the artists’ on a quest to discover the narration within the trash bin of endless virtual footage streamed directly on walls, cars and the body of ONE MAN UNIT itself. Real life becomes a simulated reality in which visual information is manipulated to lead the viewer to another altogether unreal experience.Through a variety of outputs, audiences are invited to interact with and experience the spontaneous and unexpected developments of this cyborg creation as it comes to life during the artists’ two-week residency at Peacock.

ICAS-City: MUTEK presents Deadbeat (live), local support: Assimilation Process

Altes Wettbüro 7 / 5 EUR
clubbing, concert, music, Live

Scott Monteith is a Canadian musician, sound designer, and music technology educator best known to electronic music audiences world wide as Deadbeat. Having launched the project at the first Mutek festival in Montreal in 1999, Scott has since played at many of the world's most prestigious festivals including Barcelona's Sonar and Berlin's Transmediale, as well as receiving regular invitations from the finest clubs the world over. His recorded output through countless singles and remixes and 8 studio albums for labels such as ~scape, Wagon Repair, and his own BLKRTZ imprint, as well as his genre defining Radio ROthko DJ mix considered by many to be the essential primer on dub techno have met with consistent critical acclaim. Exploring the entire spectrum of electronic music from slowing evolving ambient and experimental excursions to dance floor rocking house and techno, Scott's music has also seen frequent use in film and new media projects, most notably in collaboration with renowned French-American artist Louise Bourgeois, and the award winning film Ultranova from Belgian director Bouli Lanners.Assimilation Process sounds electronic, digital, futuristic, massive, bumpy, spherical and dark at the same time. The new project by Stefan Senf (a.k.a. Noize Creator) absorbes all the different influences out of his twenty years of music production.

Skaņu Mežs pres. Ko∆ek (Latvia) & ELVI/DUNIAN (Latvia)

Club64 3 €
clubbing / live concert

KODEK

Kodek van Buuren is perhaps a most progressive representative of the contemporary underground music scene in Latvia. Creating sounds in atypical genres, he operates with current actualities, usually surprising bystanders with his over-modern attitude to the accepted standards. With his shows, he usually challenges listeners to think outside what is seen as ‘normal’ by the conservative sweep of culture. He goes far beyond the conventional esthetic.

ELVI/DUNIAN

Elvi/Dunian is a collaboration between Riga based disc jockey and electronic music producer known as Elvi Soulsystems and the multi-talented musician turned producer, originally from Ogre, who's made himself a name as Dunian. Their sound - though still young - reflects both talents. These are messages of soul that vary from deep and profound bass woofers to acidic synth journeys through the cosmos, always telling a story, always keeping pace with both musicality and the primordial instinct of the dance.

DNZ

Known for his versatile Style, whether it is Dubstep, Electronic, Hip Hop or soulful Funk, you can be sure he will knock you of your feet!

Since 2001 he is running the legendary world famous "Fat Fenders" Record Store in Dresden together with his good friend Fabian.

ICAS-City: Galina Hardgrove on decks

Bon Voyage (free entry)
clubbing / BAR / Sit-In

Natalja Pomozova, known as Galina Hardgrove, born in Latvia, Riga, influenced by her artist-parents, was always active in art, graphic and music. Since the age of 14 she started to discover the sphere of vinyl and the clubs, which has lead her to express her creative energy through playing and visualizing open minded, soulful and classic styles today.

INSOMNIA! presents Love OD Communications: Charlotte Bendiks (dj), Boska (dj), Mental Overdrive (live)

Altes Wettbüro 7/5€

Being guest out of the techno capital of Norway, Tromsø: it's Mental Overdrive, who is best known from his first records at R&S Label in 1990 and who founded the Label Love OD Communications. In his music Per Martinsen, who is behind the moniker Mental Overdrive, also developed to transmedial art projects, for instance music for russian silent movies. As representative of the NEW music scene in Tromsø the studied drummer Boska comes to Dresden. As third in the round Charlotte Bendiks wants to effect a sweating crowd with her playing classic and dark House music. Perhaps there will be live singing as well. Let it happen.
