# INT ’L FESTIVAL BEYOND ART»# LEAP INTO THE VOID -----«
23.09. - 24.09.2011 / The Hague, The Netherlands
TodaysArt is a festival concept that revolves around the presentation and development of visual and performing arts in a variety of urban settings. The seventh edition will take place on the 23rd and 24th of september in the City Centre of The Hague.Our international ambitions and collaborations have resulted in the first belgian edition of todaysart. Todaysart.Be will take over the eurostation / zuid station district from 29 september t o 1 october, precisely one week after todaysart.Nl in The Hague. A 60 euro combi-ticket and a train ride or road trip of just over one hour allows you to visit both festivals!
Backed up and inspired by creativity we are taking a leap into the void. The future seems unstable. We believe in the sector we operate in. Whatever happens, we wish to keep taking you along for a ride into new territories and to continue exploring tools for an unknown future. To celebrate the unfamiliar, and to feast upon each others imagination.

| Description |
Together with fellow Quebecer Nicolas Bernier, Martin Messier will perform La Chambre Des Machines. In this installation, machines made of gears and cranks are manipulated to produce a sound construction at the crossroads of acoustics and electronics. Submerged in surround sound, the audience discovers the interaction between mechanical and synthetic sound. The project is based on the Intonarumoris, sound machines containing mysterious mechanisms (similar to today's computers) built by Italian futurists at the beginning of the 20th century. |

| Description | Dagaz is an application, created by the Universal Mediaman (Beer van Geer), that helps people train their meditation level through a new intuitive game experience. Dagaz uses a headset that can register your brainwaves; by learning how to control brainwaves, the user can generate mandala shapes on a computer. |

| Description | At TodaysArt 2011, Thomas Ankersmit and Kevin Drumm will perform a music set together. Thomas Ankersmit's main instruments are the Serge analogue modular synthesizer, computer and alto saxophone. Kevin Drumm seamlessly melds the worlds of acoustic and electronic sound, occasionally teetering on the edge of silence, yet always remaining impeccably musical. |

Hiroaki Umeda's Holistic Strata revolves around the body as a complex cluster of information that configures actual spaces. After performing his Adapting for Distortion piece for packed rooms at TodaysArt 2009, Hiroaki Umeda will return to The Hague to present his latest work: Holistic Strata. Umeda generates an intense visual experience with his performances, characterized by minimalistic subtlety and radical expression, combined with technological manipulations of light and sound. In Holistic Strata, he translates physical data, generated from his own muscle movements, into computer data in real time. |
